Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a dog walker is a big decision, and it’s natural to have a few questions before handing over the lead. I’ve put together answers to the things dog owners in Nottingham, Watnall, Kimberley, and Hucknall often ask about my walks, training, and puppy mentoring. If you don’t see your question here, get in touch, I’ll be happy to help.
What areas do you cover?
I’m based in Watnall and cover nearby areas including Kimberley, Hucknall, Bestwood, Arnold, Mapperley, Gedling and surrounding villages. If you’re not sure whether you’re in range, just get in touch.
How much do walks cost?
Group walks are £15 per dog. Extra dogs from the same household are +£5. Solo walks or tailored training walks are also available. prices vary depending on your dog’s needs.
How long are the walks?
Standard walks last around 45 minutes. This doesn’t include travel time, or time spent cleaning your dog after the walk, so your dog always gets the full walk.
Do you walk dogs off lead?
Yes, but only with your consent and once I’m confident your dog has safe recall and is listening to me. Until then, they’ll enjoy a secure lead walk.
How many dogs do you walk at once?
The maximum is five dogs if my dog tags along, but usually group walks are four dogs or fewer. Group walks are kept small so every dog gets plenty of attention. Your dog will be matched with compatible companions for safe, fun socialisation.
Will my dog get muddy?
Almost certainly! Walks often involve woods, fields, and rivers. I have a portable shower in my van with warm water to rinse off mud, and I towel them down before drop-off, but please expect a bit of extra mud and happy tiredness.
What happens in bad weather?
We go out in most conditions. Rain and snow are no problem, and many dogs enjoy them. I’ll make sure your dog is towelled off before coming home.
The only time plans change is in extreme heat. My van is air conditioned, but when it is very hot I move walks to early morning or switch to short garden visits or a very brief walk round the block. This keeps your dog safe, comfortable, and cared for.
Do you offer puppy walks or visits?
Yes, puppies can join shorter solo walks or training walks until they’re old enough for group adventures. I also offer puppy mentoring to help with socialisation and basic training, plus drop-in visits for when they’re very young.
Are you insured and DBS checked?
Yes. I hold specialist dog-walking insurance that includes public liability cover and veterinary care if a dog is injured while in my care. I am also DBS checked (the UK criminal record check used for people working in positions of trust) so you can feel confident about security and safety.
Do you have dog first aid training?
Yes, I am trained in canine first aid and carry a kit with me on walks. Hopefully it will never be needed, but it means I can act quickly and calmly if anything happens.
What if my dog doesn’t get on with others?
That’s no problem. Solo walks are available for dogs who prefer their own space, and training walks can help build confidence around others.
How do I book a walk?
You can book by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to 07549 481 049, or by using the contact form on the website. We will arrange a free meet-and-greet to make sure your dog is comfortable before their first walk. After that, just let me know whenever your dog would like a walk and I will get you scheduled in.
What if I need to cancel?
Life happens! Please just let me know as soon as you can. I do not charge for cancellations as long as they are reasonable. Things come up, sometimes at the last minute, and I understand that.
Still have a question? I am always happy to chat. You can get in touch to arrange a walk, or if you would like to see what other local owners think first, have a look at my testimonials.
